Dedicated colon and rectal cancer care
We offer you compassionate colorectal cancer services. They include diagnostic tests, medical screenings and surgical procedures, if necessary.
Colon cancer screening
Behind skin cancers, colon cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in men and women living in the United States. It typically presents without symptoms, although some signs may include abdominal discomfort, a change in bowel habits and bleeding.
Routine colonoscopies can help prevent this condition through early detection and treatment. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), people at average risk should start regularly screening for colon cancer at 45 years old. Getting a colorectal cancer screening at an earlier age may be best if you have a family member who's been diagnosed.
Colorectal surgery
Surgery is often required to treat colorectal cancer. Chemotherapy may also be a follow-up care option, especially if lymph nodes are involved.
If surgery is needed, our colorectal surgeons perform minimally invasive procedures whenever possible. One of our surgical treatments is a laparoscopy, which is used to remove colon cancer and reconnect intestinal tissue. Minimally invasive techniques may contribute to less postsurgical pain and a quicker recovery.
You might also benefit from our gynecological procedures, including rectal prolapse repair, vaginal prolapse repair and pelvic floor reconstruction surgery.
Our oncology services
In addition to treating colorectal cancer, we can provide comprehensive care for many other types of cancer through our oncology program. The professionals in our dedicated program have expertise across multiple specialty areas, including gastrointestinal (GI) care, neurological care, pulmonary care and ear, nose and throat (ENT) care. This enables us to deliver specialized support when you or a loved one needs it most.
As part of our program, we offer nutritional guidance, lifestyle change advice, physical rehabilitation services and ongoing follow-up care. If you qualify, you can also elect to partake in our cancer clinical trials, which give you access to research-based, innovative treatments.
