Advanced cancer diagnostics
To receive the best possible care, you first need a diagnosis. Our physicians are skilled in interpreting your results, and our pathologists are certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
We offer:
- 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to show greater detail in a shorter time, particularly for preoperative tumors
- 64-slice, low-dose computerized tomography (CT) scan technology for high-resolution images
- Digital mammography
- Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
- Nuclear medicine
- Open MRI that delivers top-quality images, enabling a more comfortable experience
- Positron emission tomography (PET) scan, as well as a combined PET/CT technique that shows metabolic activity and identifies growing tumors
- Sentinel node biopsy
- Stereotactic or ultrasound guidance for breast imaging and biopsies
- Ultrasound (3D and color)
With our technologies, we can distinguish between benign and malignant masses, evaluate the effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiation, as well as find out earlier if a tumor has recurred. You should also expect to see your biopsy results within 48 hours.
Our picture archival communication system (PACS) complements our cancer testing and imaging technology. It gives our doctors quick access to all your medical records, images and test results from anywhere. They can use PACS to instantly share images with a consulting physician and provide you with the most accurate diagnosis possible.
Cancer screenings
Early detection of cancer can be a lifesaving measure. You can schedule a mammogram, colonoscopy, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) exam, skin or lung cancer screening by calling us at (888) 421-1080. At this number, our on-call nurses are available 24/7 to help you arrange an appointment that aligns with your calendar and physician preference.
Genetic testing for cancer
A history of cancer in your family may put you at greater risk for certain cancers. We provide introductory information and make referrals for genetic counseling and testing, helping you understand, manage and reduce your risk of cancer.
Lymphedema support
When lymph nodes are removed or damaged during cancer treatment, you may be at risk for lymphedema. This can cause fluid retention in the body, leading to swelling in places such as the arms or legs. You may be able to improve your cancer recovery when you learn more about your potential risk for lymphedema and how to treat swelling, if it occurs.
Cancer treatment
Our team treats cancer with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, as well as photodynamic therapy for esophageal cancer. Additionally, we use image-guided surgical technology for brain tumors.
Surgical care for cancer
Surgery is the most common treatment for cancer, making it a key component of our program. You may benefit from our advanced surgical techniques, broad experience with complex situations, high standards of practice and successful outcomes. The latter stems from our multispecialty approach to cancer intervention and lifelong follow-up.
In an inpatient or outpatient setting, you and your physician have access to some of the most updated cancer-related surgical services, including:
- Minimally invasive endoscopic surgical staging and resection
- Minimally invasive surgery for renal cancer
- Reconstructive surgery and alternatives to total mastectomy
- The Seacoast Region's only photodynamic therapy service, a minimally invasive, laser-based treatment for esophageal cancer and Barrett's esophagus
- Tumor-targeted interventional radiology procedures
