Our prostate cancer program
We address cancer collaboratively, bringing together multiple specialists for your unique situation. Our multifaceted oncology team creates a personalized plan for treatment, recovery and follow-up care.
Prostate cancer screening
The prostate — a gland of the male reproductive system — may become enlarged, which can lead to prostate cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Prostate cancer often displays no symptoms in its early stages. As it progresses, however, you may notice discomfort or changes in urination.
Men who are at average risk for prostate cancer should start getting screened for it at 50 years old. The most effective way to detect this condition is through testing. Your screening options include a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, a digital rectal exam by your doctor or the minimally invasive, image-guided transrectal ultrasound procedure.
Prostate cancer treatment
At our hospital, we treat prostate cancer with interventional radiology and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Minimally invasive procedures may offer multiple potential health benefits, including a smaller incision, less scarring, a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
If you don't require surgical care, we can provide treatment using chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Comprehensive oncology care
We offer a full range of oncology services, including educational resources, nutritional counseling, genetic counseling referrals and emotional support. Additionally, our dedicated oncology program can connect you to multiple support groups. This includes an option specifically for you if you have prostate cancer.
If you qualify, you can also elect to partake in our cancer clinical trials, which give you access to research-based, innovative treatments.
